Grounding the Lab

Patrick lead this Lab with a focus on Shape, Space & Mechanics

  • propulsion
  • Diversity in Contact: quick, abrupt, smooth, etc allows for more possibility with improvisation
  • The group openly agreeing to explore more range of contact from passive to more violent
  • coming back to bio mechanics- visualizing what is needed for the body to execute an impulse
  • Flocking; an ebb and flow of individuals and groups moving in and out of pairs, groups and solos
  • Honesty with your weight
  • Playing with the influence of sound/music

During Open Improvisation:

Character, Sound, Voice, and nearly everything that had been explored in past Labs presented itself. The Open Improv provided a place for us all to articulate all the accumulating vocab from past Labs.
